This is our time at Berrymead to study the Word of God. Paul in his epistle to the Romans said that «everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope» (Romans 15:4). The Lord knew that time would come when having his comprehensive written revelation to go by would have proven essential.

Studying the Word of God is a great part in our Christian life to get to know our God better and better.
The Lord, speaking to Joshua, said: «Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.» (Joshua 1:8).

Paul also reminds us that «All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.» (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and Peter tells us to «always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have» (1 Peter 3:15).

The Word of God is also described like a weapon for the Christian: «For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.» (Hebrews 4:12) and «the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.» (Ephesians 6:17).

Therefore, studying the Word of God is essential for us Christians, to be equipped with the truth, as it is written: «The sum of your word is truth» (Psalms 119:160 ESV); and stay always alert and on the guard from those who peddle the Word of God (2 Corinthians 2:17) or introduce destructive heresies (2 Peter 2:1).

We can come boldly to the Word of God knowing that it is the full revelation of God to us during the Church Age, as Jesus was the last to hold the old office of Prophet (Hebrews 1:1-2) and since He lives forever, He will always hold it!

So, let’s study together and grow in Him.
